2012 CFDA Awards' Best Dressed

Last Monday night at Alice Tully Hall in New York City, the Council of Fashion Designers of America held its annual awards ceremony. This year's event was particularly special because it marked the organization's 50th anniversary. Actor and comedian Seth Meyers was chosen to host the awards ceremony and did not fall short of his funnyman persona by walking on stage in the same sheer lace Comme des Garcons dress that Marc Jacobs had worn to the 2012 Met Gala (see below).

Nonetheless, the event brought out every major fashion designer along with their stylish celebrity guests. Michael Kors arrived with supermodel Joan Smalls, Prabal Gurung with Zoe Saldana, Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez with Dakota Fanning, and Joseph Altuzarra with Kate Bosworth. Many awards were received by these fashion designers for their hard work in design including:  the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award to Tommy Hilfiger, Womenswear Designer of the Year to The Row's Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Menswear Designer of the Year to Billy Reid, and Accessory Designer of the Year to Reed Krakoff. Overall, the awards ceremony was perfect being filled with glamour, style, and of course...fashion! So here are my five best dressed at the 2012 CFDA Awards.

#5. Mega-stylist and designer Rachel Zoe wearing her own creation. Zoe has been known as one of the most sought after celebrity stylists in Hollywood but now she has become one of the most popular designers as well. Her designs ooze red carpet glamour and reflect her own personal style. This dress is phenomenal and I love how beautifully it drapes on her body. Zoe is, without a doubt, the most stylish mother in America!

#4. Actress Kate Bosworth in the Altuzarra “Laal” dress and Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra black velvet ankle cuff pumps. This dress is amazing! I love the vibrant colors and the pattern and the side cut-out. I think this dress really flatters Bosworth's figure and it looks sophisticated and sexy all at the same time. And I adore  the shoes! They are so chic! Bosworth is definitely a woman who looks incredible in anything she wears.

#3. Actress Jessica Chastain wearing a Prabal Gurung dress and shoes with Harry Winston jewelry. After seeing Chastain in The Help I instantly became a fan! She is so gorgeous and elegant and not to mention has a great sense of style. I am also a HUGE fan of Prabal Gurung and his futuristic designs. This dress is amazing and I love the fit-and-flare fit. Most importantly, I am beyond obsessed with these shoes! Chastain looks amazing!

#2. Actress Dakota Fanning in head-to-toe Proenza Schouler. I love how unique and detail-oriented this outfit it. The dress is stunning and I love how well the colors work together! I think these shoes are fabulous since they are chunkier and bolder than most. This outfit makes a huge statement and it also lets Fanning show that she is a true fashionista. She also did a great job of completing the look with a messy low bun and metallic clutch. Proenza Schouler continues to make the most beautiful clothes, ones that are absolutely great conversation pieces!

#1. Actress Zoe Saldana wearing Prabal Gurung. When I saw Saldana in this dress I literally died and had to bring myself back to life (dramatic enough?). This dress is beyond incredible and her body looks out of this world in it! The sheer cut outs and plunging neckline are mega-sexy, which I always love! Saldana was the perfect choice to wear this dress and she pulled it off flawlessly. The dress is modern yet classic, and when a designer can accomplish that it is amazing to witness! Well done.

2012 MTV Movie Awards' Best Dressed

Last night was the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, which was held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. The event consisted of several memorable monets including: Charlize Theron pretending to beat up her Prometheus co-star Micheal Fassbender, Russell Brand making a joke about ex-wife Katy Perry, and Magic Mike star Joe Mangeniello appearing shirtless in a fire fighter's uniform and carrying The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks off the stage. Many awards were given out including Movie of the Year to The Twlight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I and Best Cast to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.
For me though, the best part of any awards show is the red carpet fashion! The MTV Movie Awards are especially great for fashion because the mood of the event is much more relaxed and fun than that of say, the Oscars, so celebrities tend to wear more playful and vibrant clothes. This year, it was all about the mini dresses! Everyone from Emma Watson to Jennifer Aniston was sporting some form of one. Nonetheless, I have chosen my five best dressed celebrities at the event so without further adieu, here they are!

xoxo, Taylor.

#5. Snow White and the Huntsman star Kristen Stewart in a Guishem mini dress, Christian Louboutin heels, and a Repossi ring. Kristen is the queen on mini dresses and this beautiful Guishem number further proves it. I really like how Stewart never over does her looks; she keeps it relatively simple but with a pinch of fun, like this with the yellow, black, and purple. I think her disheveled hair style and deep purple smoky eyes work beautifully with the dress to create an edgy yet modern look.

#4. Snow White and the Huntsman star and new mom Charlize Theron wearing a Lanvin dress and clutch with Jimmy Choo shoes and Cartier jewelry. This dress is so beautiful and I love the peplum (what else is new?). Theron has been a mega fashionista lately and this dress did not disappoint! I think the dress fits her perfectly and the silver strappy Jimmy Choos add just enough glamour to the look. I also really loved that she kept her hair and make up simple, making her, and the dress, look effortlessly beautiful.

#3. Actress and wife of Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan in a Lublu dress, Sergio Rossi shoes, Norm Silverman jewels, and a JustFab purse. Hello, Sexy! I have been dying to see Dewan in something that is a little more risque than her usual attire and this dress was it! I mean the woman is married to one of the sexiest men alive Channing Tatum, for Heaven's sake! The reason that I love this look so much is for how on-trend it is with the peplum and the white/mint color combination. I'm also crazy about her high ponytail and metallic accessories. Everything is to die for (including her husband!).

#2. Actress and recently engaged Jessica Biel wearing a Chanel dress, Barbara Bui green nubuck “Biker” sandals, and Giles and Brothers bracelet. Biel honestly looks unbelieveable! The sleeves on this white Chanel dress are phenomenal and the shoes were a perfect match! I think she looks so happy (thank you, Justin Timberlake) and this dress really lets her show off that rocking body she has. I'm also obsessed with her front swept bangs. I must admit, Biel surprised me by looking this great but she killed it!

#1. The Amazing Spiderman star Emma Stone in a Martin Grant top and skirt with Brian Atwood shoes, Tiffany & Co. jewelry, and a Fendi clutch. For those who don't know, Emma Stone is one of my favorite people on the planet. Her style is impeccable and she has this natural beauty about herself that every girl wants. This outfit is so chic and classic and it looks amazing on Stone. I absolutely love her hair and make-up; the loosely curled bun and baby pink lips were beautiful together. Emma Stone is my choice for best dressed at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards!

Best Dressed Celebrities of the Week

This week celebrities were having a lot of fun when it came to their red carpet choices. They wore detailed gowns with impressive updo's, beautiful colors with playful accessories, and sexy mini dresses with voluminous hair! I love how celebrities continue to surprise me every week with their fashion choices, whether it is a good girl gone bad or a conservative gone uber-sexy approach. As we transition into summer, I think that celebrities will continue to wear bright, bold colors and prints along with revealing more skin (it is getting warmer after all!). So here they are...my five best dressed celebrities of the week!

xoxo, Taylor.

#5. Victoria's Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes in Atelier Versace while attending the 2012 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. I am currently obsessed with anything Versace and this is why. I mean, seriously, how dynamite does Kroes look in this?! She alone is just stunning but this white dress looks insane on her body and the smoky eye was the best makeup choice to go with it. Additionally, I was actually pleased that she didn't wear a necklace or earrings because I feel like they would have taken away from the beauty of the dress. And of course, I always love a messy bun!

#4. Fashion designer Nicole Richie wearing Emilio Pucci at the 2012 Fifi Awards held at The Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York City. I DIE for Pucci and this was my absolute favorite look from the fashion line's Spring 2012 RTW collection! On the runway the model wearing this dress had her hair in a loose, messy ponytail but I like Richie's massive top bun so much better! It makes the dress look even more phenomenal than it already is. The only thing I wish she would have done differently would be to have worn the incredible black cross necklace that was on the runway with the dress. Nonetheless, Nicole looks beautiful in this dress and it compliments her personal style so well!

#3. Country Singer Taylor Swift in Elie Saab at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, which were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Taylor looks beyond anything that I could ever imagine! I honestly love this dress on her. She looks so mature and sophisticated, and sexy in it. The dress fits her thin figure like a glove and it drapes beautifully (like any Elie Saab dress should). I also like how she went for the color red, making her draw even more attention than usual. Lastly, I am crazy about her hair being straight because it looks amazing and with it being straight; Swift looks much older (in a good way of course!).

#2. Country Singer Carrie Underwood wearing head-to-toe Oscar de la Renta at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, which were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This dress is so atypical of Underwood because it is such a HUGE statement but I ADORE it! The pastel pink and purple work so flawlessly together and the full, Cinderella-like skirt of the dress is just perfection. I really like how innocent and feminine Underwood appears to be in this dress. Also, the clutch is so pretty with the hexagonal shape and large colored jewels. Another part of the whole look that I really enjoyed was that Underwood took a different approach by wearing her hair down in layers of curls. She looks like a princess!

#1. Actress Diane Kruger in Chanel (top left) at the 2012 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala on Thursday (May 24) at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France. Kruger wearing Nina Ricci gown, Judith Leiber bag, Prada shoes, and Boucheron ring (top center) at  the Killing Them Softly premiere during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. Kruger again in Prabal Gurung (top right) at the Nights in Monaco gala fundraiser at the Casino in Monte Carlo, Monaco. And finally, Kruger wearing Christian Dior Couture (bottom) while attending the closing ceremony for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. Diane Kruger has quickly climbed her way to the top of my list of Hollywood's most stylish fashionistas. She has not once let me (or anyone in the fashion world) down since she arrived in Cannes, France. Words cannot describe how incredible I think her red carpet choices have been while at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Then she ends the festival with a bang by wearing the most breath-taking gown from the Spring 2012 Christian Dior Couture collection! I almost can't handle how much high fashion is going on in Diane Kruger's life right now. All I CAN say is that she has been the epitome of elegance for the past two weeks! Bravo Diane!

Best Dressed Celebrities of the Week

Week six of the 'Best Dressed Celebrities of the Week' blog post is jam-packed with (in my opinion) the best looks so far! So many big events have been taking place this week, giving celebrities a great reason to dress up and look even more fabulous than usual. One of these events is the annual Cannes Film Festival held in Cannes, France. This year, the film festival has brought out some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as: Naomi Watts, Salma Hayek, Shia LaBeouf, Gerard Butler, Jessica Chastain, Tilda Swinton, Shailene Woodley, Lana Del Rey, Sean Penn, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jane Fonda, and the list goes on and on!
With the film festival comes extraoidinary red carpet fashion. The bright colors trend continues to make appearances on the red carpet along with partially sheer gowns and the always elegant sparkly gowns, or "glitter gowns" as I like to call them. Something that I especially loved seeing was several haute couture gowns on the red carpet at the festival. The celebrities definitely kicked it up a level this year, leaving fashionistas like myself very pleased!
This week also consisted of a handful of movie premieres around the world. One in particular was Snow White and the Huntsman (SWATH), which I am DYING to see. I've read that Charlize Theron gives her best performance yet in the film and seeing that I am already completely enthralled by her talent and style, the film is going to be even more perfect for me to go see (you can watch the trailer for SWATH below). Nonetheless, Charlize and co-star Kristen Stewart have been consistently looking beyond major at every premiere thus far.

xoxo, Taylor.

Now...here are my five best dressed celebrities of the week!!!
5. Actress Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Haute Couture at Empire Leicester Square in London, England for the premiere of her new film, SWATH. I have been anxiously waiting for a celebrity to wear a gown from Christian Dior's phenomenal Haute Couture Spring 2012 show, so when I saw Theron in one I freaked! This gown looks so incredibly amazing on her it's not even funny. I love how the entire skirt of the dress is sheer and how the fabric crosses at her chest and wraps around her neck. She just looks so chic and the emerald earrings look beautiful with the dress! I also loved her sexy smoky eye!
4. Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria in a stunning Marchesa gown, Brian Atwood pumps, and Damiani jewels at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This gown is coincidently my favorite Marchesa gown ever! It is from the fashion line's Fall 2011 RTW collection, which in the fashion world, was ages ago. However, I remember being so disappointed that no celebrity ever wore this gown because it is unbelievably exquisite! So you can imagine my extreme happiness when I saw Longoria emerge onto the red carpet in it. She looks very elegant and glamorous in this gown. It was perfection!
3. Twilight actress Kristen Stewart (left) wearing a BCBG mini dress and Christian Louboutin black pumps at photo call for SWATH at Casa de America in Madrid, Spain. Stewart (center) in a Marchesa gown, Kara Ackerman Designs rings and Jimmy Choo heels at Empire Leicester Square in London, England for the Madrid premiere of SWATH. Stewart again (right) wearing a 10 Crosby Derek Lam dress with a McQ belt, and Christian Louboutin heels at a photo call for SWATH at the Ritz-Carlton in Berlin, Germany. I really respect Stewart's "badass" style and I think it presents itself in all three of these awesome looks. I love how she incorporates a little edge into every one of these outfits, whether it be with her smoky make-up, braided hair, or leather belt. She is a celebrity who knows exactly who they are and dresses to be that person.
2. Actress Diane Kruger (left) in a Versus mini dress and Jimmy Choo heels at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival's jury photo call held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. Kruger (left center) wearing a gorgeous Giambattista Valli couture gown at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. Kruger again (center right) in Jason Wu at the Haiti Carnival in Cannes event during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. Finally, Kruger (right) wearing head-to-toe Balmain while attending the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. I was seriously blown away by Kruger's insane sense of style throughout the film festival. She has nailed it at every single portion of the festival and she looks incredible. I love the cut-outs, short skirts, lace, and couture gowns that she chose to wear. I think she is perfectly aware of her age and how to dress appropriately for it. Kruger has earned herself a spot on my list of Hollywood's most stylish fashionistas!
1. Actress Freida Pinto wearing an Atelier Versace Haute Couture gown at the premiere of her latest film Rust & Bone during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. This dress is everything! The color, the sheer and lace, and the gold accents on the hips are incredible and I love how great it looks on her body and against her skin tone. I also really liked her hair pulled back in a sleek and sexy ponytail. She looks so mature and not to mention FLAWLESS! Freida Pinto is my best dressed celebrity of the week!

2012 Met Gala's Best Dressed

We all know that award shows like the Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes are several of the most prestigious and glamorous events in Hollywood. However, it's when May comes upon us that we get a glimpse into the most fabulous and most fashionable event of the year...the Met Costume Institute Gala (nicknamed the "Oscars of the East Coast"). And who better to host said event than the ruler of the American fashion world Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of VOGUE. Wintour hand selects each and every guest who gets to attend the Gala, insuring that only the cream of the crop is invited.
The Met has held this event every year since 1948 to celebrate the annual opening of its fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. This year the exhibit is called "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations," which pretends as if the two designers are carrying on a conversation over dinner regarding their inspirations, lives, and careers. Pieces from their collections over the years are placed side-by-side throughout the exhibit to show viewers the similarities and differences of both designers' take on a woman and her figure. I personally think this exhibit would be extremely fascinating to see and experience!
The most exciting part of the entire event is the red carpet fashion! This is the time for the stars to shine and show how fashion-forward they truly are. This year's red carpet fashion did not disappoint! I loved all of the bright colors, textures, and best of all...sparkles! The stars really brought their fashion A-game to this event and I could not have been more thrilled. I loved all of the gowns so much that it actually took me two days to narrow it down to my top ten best dressed! It wasn't easy but here they are...the 2012 Met Gala's ten best dressed celebrities!

xoxo, Taylor.

10. Actress Kate Bosworth in head-to-toe Gucci. This is the perfect dress for Bosworth! It's sexy, fun, and well put together. The texture of the dress is phenomenal and it moved so well with her body. The dress's open back made the look by adding the right amount of sex appeal. I also really like the small splash of maroon at the top of the dress and how she continued to emphasize the color with her clutch and lips. Now the shoes are to die for! Who doesn't love a blinged-out heel?! Another thing that I was so pleased with was Bosworth's hairstyle. If she would have taken a different route and worn it in a lower style or even down, it would have destroyed the look completely. The tightly pulled back high bun was an excellent choice! Bravo my dear!
9. Actress Cameron Diaz wearing Stella McCartney. Diaz's body is one that is very athletic and can be hard to make it look curvy and womanly but she totally accomplished that in this gown! The way it falls on her and hugs every inch of her body is incredible. It almost looks as if she is dripping gold! Diaz looks so elegant and poised, making this gown the best option for her. I was glad that she kept her accessories very minimal so they would not risk overpowering the gown. I also liked how she stuck with her naturally sexy look by wearing her hair in a messy updo and allowing her make-up to be simple. She looks stunning!
8. Actress Emma Stone in Lanvin. Words cannot express how excited I was that Stone not only wore Lanvin (who she has been very loyal to throughout her career) but she also was also the brand's creative director, Alber Elbaz's date for the evening! I think this is a darling dress and it works so well for Stone because it goes with her quirky personality and her age. I also really love how detailed the dress is! Elbaz told VOGUE.com on the red carpet that there are over 3,000 plastic flowers sewn onto the dress. I mean, it is just phenomenal! Other things that were phenomenal were Stone's hairstyle and hairpiece. The hairstyle could not have been more perfect for the dress by keeping it youthful and fun. As always, I'm obsessed with Emma Stone and her red carpet style!
7. Actress Amber Heard wearing Zac Posen. This entire look screams old-fashioned Hollywood glamour and I could not be more obsessed with it! First of all, the color of the gown is amazing and it fits Heard's body so well. Secondly, I love the detailing in the back of the gown and not to mention how well it photographs! Her hair was very chic and reiterated the old-fashioned Hollywood glamour feel of the look. The only thing that makes this gown even better is the fact that it was accompanied by Zac Posen himself!
6. Singer, actress, and new mom Beyonce in Givenchy Haute Couture. Beyonce was the last star to arrive at the event, and for very good reason...a MAJOR fashion statement! Beyonce looks immaculate in this gown. This is her saying to the world, "I just had a baby and I look better than ever!" This gown has so much detail that it's almost unbelievable. I love love love all of the bead work throughout the gown and how the feathers emerge at the bottom and turn from black to a rich purple.  I also noticed that the sleeves are complete gloves that cover her hands too, adding even more detail to the gown. I think Beyonce nailed it and she proved to us that her recent title as People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful Woman" is well deserved!
5. Actress Camilla Belle wearing Ralph Lauren. Before I even get to the gown, I have to talk about how major Belle's hair and make-up is! This beauty look channeled a '20's siren and went perfectly with the deco-inspired gown. I really like how dramatic the lips are and the low bun hairstyle. Now for the beautiful and sensual gown Belle wore...she looks flawless! The plunging sheer neckline and open back are so brilliant and make her look very mature and sophisticated. I think this look was perfect for the Met Gala and she is a true beauty in this gown!
4. Victoria's Secret Angel Chanel Iman in Tom Ford, with the one and only Tom Ford. I was so shocked when I saw Iman arriving alongside Tom Ford wearing his design because to be honest, I am normally not a fan of her style but she looked BEAUTIFUL! Everything from head-to-toe was just utter perfection. The big hair, smoky eyes, red nails, diamond earrings, and breath-taking gown all flowed so well together and the whole look just made sense. I was very proud of Ms. Iman because I felt like this was her opportunity to be a fashion star and she definitely took full advantage and shined!
3. Actress January Jones wearing Versace Haute Couture. The Versace Spring 2012 Haute Couture show was one of my absolute favorites! I think Donatella is a designer who really understands the female body and designs to flatter it, which is exactly what this dress does! I am also currently crazy about peplums so this dress was just everything for me. The yellow hue, the gold accents and the fit were all so perfect that I could barely contain myself. I mean just look at how rocking her body is in this dress! And she recently had a baby! I also really liked how she matched the turquoise necklace with the yellow dress. The combination of the two made the dress more feminine rather than edgy. January Jones KILLED IT!
2. Actress Emily Blunt in Calvin Klein Collection. Oh my god, oh my god, OH MY GOD...this dress almost leaves me speechless! Blunt has been on a roll lately when it comes to her fashion choices and this dress was extraordinary. The fabric is so beautiful and fits her body so well! I am bananas about the pink/salmon hue of this dress and also the side cut-outs and open back! I love how effortlessly gorgeous Blunt looks in it and her hair works very well with the dress since she kept it simple. Bottom line...I am just overjoyed about this dress and it is my favorite look that Blunt has ever worn. Fabulous!
1. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow wearing head-to-toe Prada. For those who don't already know...Gwyneth Paltrow is one of my favorite fashionistas in Hollywood. There is never an event or red carpet where she does not steal the show. She never ceases to amaze me with her fashion choices and I think it is safe to say she is one of the most fashionable women in the world. That being said, the second I saw Paltrow in this sexy little Prada number I knew she was my #1 pick. The tints of pastel purple and gray are so beautiful and they look great against Paltrow's fair skin. I love how the dress has a high-low skirt, showing off her ridiculously toned legs! I also think the sequined side pockets are so fun and creative, adding that extra punch to the dress. But the best part of the entire dress is the high neckline and the revealing sides/back. Paltrow is the only 39-year-old who can pull something off that is this revealing and sexy. Moving on to the accessories...beyond incredible! The pumps match perfectly with the sequined pockets and the heels on the pumps are awesome! Lastly, the gorgeous pair of diamond hoop earrings, which I love these so much! With full confidence, I can say that Gwyneth Paltrow was the #1 best dressed celebrity at the 2012 Met Gala!!!

Here Comes the Bride...

Weddings are a fantasy. They take their guests away from reality for a short period of time to have them stop and honor the love and commitment of two people. They are a time when two souls become one, making a family's journey begin. I have dreamt of my wedding day for as long as I can remember. To be honest, I basically have the entire day planned out...and I'm only 17.
Every girl wants her wedding day to be perfect and because of this, she has to find the most phenomenal dress she has ever seen. That is why the world gave us brilliant designers like Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, and Marchesa's Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman. It is these very designers who have changed the world of weddings forever. They have created some of the most beautiful bridal gowns in the entire world and continue to do so every season. They seem to love experimenting with new ideas of what a bride should be and look like and this season was no exception.
During bridal week, all of the collections had one similar trait...red. At first glance I wondered why on earth a bride would ever wear red. It would be so daring, so bold, and so untraditional. Then I realized, why would a bride NOT wear red?! The color red symbolizes passion, desire, sensuality, infatuation, and most importantly, love. It was beyond genius to put a bride in red. Needless to say, I quickly became a fan of the unexpected trend. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I saw the traditional white dresses in all their forms. Lace and peplums were huge trends with these particular gowns. Overall, I loved the majority of the wedding gowns that graced the runways this season.
Being inspired by my own dream wedding and the gowns I saw during bridal week, I styled 10 bridal looks that would make any girl swoon! The looks include a bridal gown, a wedding ring, and complementary hair and make-up, along with bridesmaids' dresses, shoes and flower bouquets. Now without further adieu prepare yourself to say "I do!"

xoxo, Taylor.
